Our Story

About Us

At Flora Mobile Dental Hygiene, we believe that everyone deserves compassionate, high-quality dental care, no matter where they live, their background, or their ability to visit a traditional clinic. Founded by Aline and Amany, two dedicated dental hygienists with over three decades of combined experience, Flora was created to bring care back to its roots: personal, accessible, and guided by genuine connection.

Our story began years ago in dental hygiene school, where we bonded over a shared dream to one day create a mobile dental practice that reaches people where they feel most comfortable: at home. What started as a conversation between classmates became a vision put on hold during the pandemic, and later, a reality when Flora Mobile Dental Hygiene officially launched in Spring 2025.

Our name, Flora, symbolizes growth, renewal, and authenticity. Like the layers of a flower, we believe every person has their own story and needs that shape how we deliver care. Each petal represents the values that guide us: integrity, compassion, kindness, prevention, and community. These values remind us that oral health is deeply connected to overall well-being.

Whether we're visiting seniors in long-term care homes, newcomers to Canada, or families balancing busy lives, our goal is simple: to ensure each client feels heard, cared for, and comfortable. We take time to listen, explain, and adapt, fostering an environment where trust and compassion guide every appointment.

At Flora, our mission is to make preventive dental hygiene care accessible, dignified, and empowering across Ottawa communities.

  • Co-Founder & Registered Dental Hygienist

Aline's journey in dental hygiene began with a childhood role model: her own hygienist, whose gentle care, curiosity, and genuine compassion left a lasting impression. Since graduating in 2017, Aline has dedicated her career to providing care that feels personal, thoughtful, and accessible to all.

Her path has been anything but traditional. After several years in private practice, Aline moved to Nunavut during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, where she gained a deeper understanding of how social, economic, and cultural factors influence oral health. Living and working in northern communities shaped her belief that dental care is a necessity, not a luxury, and that active listening and empathy are essential to every patient interaction.

Those experiences inspired her to co-found Flora Mobile Dental Hygiene, a practice built on compassion, connection, and accessibility. Aline believes that true care starts with understanding each person's story and meeting clients where they are, both physically and emotionally.

Outside of her clinical work, Aline enjoys cooking, running passion projects like a pop-up restaurant, and spending time in nature: all things that connect her back to community and creativity. Her guiding values are authenticity, openness, and lifelong learning, qualities she brings to every visit with Flora.

  • Co-Founder & Registered Dental Hygienist

With more than 25 years in the dental field, Amany brings deep experience and heart to everything she does. Her career began as a dentist in Egypt, where preventive dental hygiene was not yet common practice. That experience ignited her passion for education and prevention: helping people understand the "why" behind their oral health.

Amany believes care should always be accessible, patient-centered, and rooted in empathy. Her calm, gentle chairside manner helps clients feel at ease, especially those who may have had anxious or difficult experiences in the past. She takes time to listen, explain, and adapt each appointment to the individual's needs, ensuring comfort and trust are at the heart of every visit.

Launching Flora Mobile Dental Hygiene alongside Aline was a natural evolution of her long-held vision to make oral care more inclusive. Together, they've created a practice that brings professional, evidence-based care right to clients' homes, reaching seniors, newcomers, and families across Ottawa.

Outside of work, Amany finds joy in spending time with her family, cooking, and praying: moments that help her stay grounded and grateful. Her philosophy is simple: meet every person with understanding, kindness, and care.
